Mars launches Chinese New Year promo for Uncle Ben’s

Mars Food UK has launched a new promotion offering shoppers the chance to win prizes of up to £1000 with any purchase of product by Uncle Ben’s, to be renamed Ben’s Original later this year.

Adopting the tradition of exchanging red envelopes at Chinese New Year, shoppers will be in with the chance of revealing cash prizes within lucky red envelopes of their own by visiting the competition website before 5 March.

    The prizes include 4 x £1,000, 60 x £50, 125 x £20 plus a £500 bonus prize draw.

To participate, one only need to purchase any Uncle Ben’s product before 5 March, register your details on the website and find out instantly if you’ve won a cash prize, free product voucher or money off voucher.

The promotion will be supported via in-store POS and both static and digital billboards.

“We are excited to be bringing some joy to our consumers through a fun, cash prize giveaway. Chinese New Year is a great opportunity for retailers to create some excitement in store and for families to enjoy a special dinner together,” commented Carly Bowes, customer marketing manager at Mars Food,

The rice product, which was marketed with the image of a grinning bowtie-clad elderly black man, will be rechristened Ben’s Original and will drop the character later this year, as Mars announced a rebranding last year in the wake of racial justice protests following the killing of George Floyd in the US.
