Post Office and Payzone bill payments have won their first contract post acquisition with ScottishPower Smart Metering.
Post Office acquired the bill payments systems business of Payzone in October 2018, adding around 13,000 Payzone outlets, along with their bill payment technology, to Post Office’s present network of over 11,500 branches.
ScottishPower will be moving 600,000 customers on to new smart meters and customers will be able to top up their meters conveniently at around 25,000 locations nationwide from later this year.
“We’re really pleased about this first contract win, which we hope will be the first of many for the Post Office and Payzone bill payment networks,” said Post Office Retail Chief Executive Debbie Smith.
The three year contract allows ScottishPower customers to take their smart meter account number barcode into either a Post Office or Payzone outlet, and once their payment is made, it will be automatically updated onto the customer’s Smart Meter.
Andrew Goddard, managing director of Payzone Bill Payments Limited, said: “This new contract is brilliant news for Post Offices and for Payzone retailers alike, bringing extra footfall through the door. And we are finalising other new contracts as we speak so we hope to announce more successes very soon.”
