James Hall & Co, the Spar wholesaler for the north of England, is set to manufacture this week their 60 millionth sandwich since sandwich production first started in 2009.
The Lancashire-based family business produces over 21,000 sandwiches a day at its purpose built distribution centre in Preston.
“We are very proud to produce high quality and tasty sandwiches and we are thrilled to have reached this 60,000,000 sandwich milestone with plans for sales and growth building momentum,” Peter Dodding, sales and marketing director at James Hall & Co, said.
“We have had a great strategy and like everyone else, we have navigated our way through the pandemic. We are in a great place that is far ahead of what we could have imagined.”
James Hall & Co serves a network of over 600 independent and company owned Spar stores across the north of England, six days a week. They produce a range of nine sandwiches for Spar stores.
The business said the milestone demonstrates how demand for food-to-go products including sandwiches has increased within the convenience market.
Since sandwich production started in 2009 the company has raised £600,000 for the charities Marie Curie and NSPCC from the sale of each sandwich.
