    Hancocks launches spring confectionery range

Leading confectionery wholesaler Hancocks has unveiled its extensive spring confectionery range.

With two seasonal events to cater to, Mother’s Day and Easter, spring confectionery plays a huge part in growing annual confectionery sales.

With 40 per cent of shoppers buying on impulse for Mother’s Day, Hancocks said retailers should be stocked up on bestsellers from all categories.

“Seasonal events remain a key way for retailers to boost confectionery sales and spring is the perfect time for it, as there’s three major occasions to take advantage of,” Kathryn Hague, head of marketing at Hancocks, said.

“We’re happy to offer retailers a wide range of seasonal confectionery products to help them maximise their sales during spring. We’re encouraging retailers to stock up early to ensure that they can cater to the demand.”

Spring confectionery products to stock up on are seasonal gifting options, novelty products, chocolate boxes, sharing bags and chocolate eggs.

Pick and mix options are expected to be popular as well, the wholesaler said, as families and friends will be looking for sweet treats to add to their snack tables when celebrating any of the three seasonal events.

The leading pick and mix brand Kingsway has a wide selection of spring and Easter themed sweets from Fried Eggs and Happy Flowers to Rabbit Heads and Bunnies RRP £1.20 per 100g.

The customers’ favourite BUBS offer a seasonal twist to their traditional foam sweets with Egg Skulls RRP £1.20 per 100g, which are in the shape of a hatching egg, making them a must-stock for Easter.

Retailers who don’t have pick n mix displays in stores can opt for Bonds Candy Cups which are filled with a variety of delicious pick and mix combinations. Part of the spring range are Happy Flowers Cup and Hoppy Easter Cup RRP £2.50.

Also available are British dessert inspired cups, Bonds Just Desserts Candy Cups, in Eton Mess and Chocky Road pick and mixes.

Bonds of London has also launched exciting impulse buy products perfect for egg hunts, including Sherbet Filled Carrots for RRP £1.20, egg and bunny shaped Easter Candy Pops RRP £1.00 and Jelly Beans Bunny Tubes RRP £1.20.

Among the brand new seasonal sharing bag options are the Chick and Bunny Marshmallow Bag 80g RRP £1.00 and the Pina Colada Gummies 105G RRP £1.00 from Bonds.

A novelty product that the kids will love is Crazy Candy Factory’s Dancing Duck RRP £1.20, a tube filled with yummy sweets and topped with a funny dancing duck figure.

Another novelty product that’s a great impulse buy option is Candy Realms Giant Llama Cables RRP £0.30 per unit. These fruit-flavoured liquorice cables look like long llama necks, with a soft fondant centre, surrounded in brightly coloured jelly candy.

Hancocks also offers a large selection of gifting products to help retailers cater to the rising demand during Easter and Mother’s Day.

Milk Chocolate Tulips and Roses RRP £1.49 and Bonds Chocolate Heart Medals RRP £1.50 are the perfect gift options for chocolate lovers.

Bonds offers a selection of Pun Boxes that are ideal for those who appreciate light-hearted funny presents. New additions to the range are Love you More than Pizza, alongside Hearts and Kisses, You Crack Me Up & You’re One in a Melon and finally, Turtley Love You and You’re Shrimply the Best RRP £2.00.

Hague said the cost of living crisis has had an impact on consumer behaviour, but shoppers will still want to treat themselves, especially during holidays.

“Research has revealed that 55 per cent of consumers are going out less to save money, so there will be many households this year who will opt for celebrating holidays at home and will be on the lookout for affordable treats to complement their snack tables,” she said.

“Retailers can be confident that the seasonal products will catch customers’ attention and result in sales by using POS that is clear and appealing. Seasonal impulse buy treats should be placed near the tills to boost unplanned purchases.”
