A Recent app promotion has struck a chord with customers of Glasgow-based JW Filshill, the first wholesaler to launch an app-only sale in Scotland.
The app, launched by Filshill last year in partnership with Sanderson, one of the UK’s leading technology providers for wholesale and cash & carry businesses, benefits customers with a number of time-saving features such as instant barcode scanning for convenient ordering on the customer site, user-managed favourites and instant notification of current promotions.
Customers also benefit from online order management giving visibility of orders and delivery tracking, plus account management for payment notifications. In addition, they can search the wholesaler’s full product range, place orders, and view their account history.
Filshill worked with Sanderson on the app sale campaign which saw 45 percent of customers who had not ordered via the app before place orders. Furthermore, 56 percent of people who purchased promoted products during the campaign had never previously bought those products via the app. It also spread the daily transactions more evenly across the week, as opposed to the previous trend where sales were heavily centred around Tuesdays.
Available for both iOS and Android devices, the app is fully integrated with the Sanderson wholesale software, Swords, and its fully responsive online ordering system. The app is also available as a cloud-based solution that works with any back office IT system.
It is also fully integrated with the Filshill website so customers can start their order online and finish it on the app or vice versa.

Filshill, a member of Today’s Group, the UK’s largest independent buying group, supplies 175 retailers trading under the KeyStore, KeyStore More and KeyStore Express fascias across Scotland and the north of England as well as servicing 1400 cash & carry customers. The firm believes that the app will gain further traction as customers catch on to its convenience and ease of use.
