EG Group, which is rapidly expanding in the US, has acquired Preston-based IT firm GB3 and appointed its founder and chief executive Graham Billsborough as the group’s chief information officer.

Mohsin Issa, Co-CEO of EG Group said the technology company will support the group’s foray into multiple markerts.

“Graham’s technology leadership skills and strong delivery track record will allow EG Group to realise its vision to become a digital leader in the sector. We are also committed to continue expanding the GB3 customer base and look forward to seeing the business grow,” Issa said.

The move follows EG Group’s latest acquisition in the US of 69 Certified Oil-branded convenience stores, taking the total number of its stores to 1112 in 25 states.

EG Group acquired a 762 site convenience store business in the US from Kroger Co and established their North American headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio in April 2018. The group expanded to 988 stores later in December with the acquisition of the Minit Mart portfolio from Travel Centers of America and the opening of a new Turkey Hill location in Pennsylvania.

Last month, it added 54 Fastrac Markets branded convenience retail stores and gas stations in New York State and a Pennsylvania store to its portfolio.

The Blackburn-based group operates around 5,000 sites in Europe and Australia, besides the US.
