Carabao has announced the appointment of David Butcher as its new managing director for UK and Ireland.

Butcher, in his second stint at the Thai energy drink company, will be responsible for strengthening relationships with existing customers and growing Carabao’s distribution footprint.

“I see huge potential for significant brand growth in the UK, both through its continued and considerable investment in football, but also by staying true to its core: creating energy drinks that taste great and are low in sugar,” he said.

Butcher had previously served the firm as managing director for over six months in 2017 before joining luxury interior furnishings group Walker Greenbank, where he most recently held the position of general manager – brands.

“I’ve always greatly admired Carabao as a brand; since launching in the UK three years ago, it has firmly established itself as the challenger brand in a competitive sector,” he added.

Butcher has more than 20 years’ experience in sales, marketing and general management at firms including Procter & Gamble, Allied Domecq, Constellation Brands and Britvic.

He replaces Mark Young, who stepped in after Butcher’s exit in late 2017.
