Crisis grants now available through PayPoint

West Lothian residents can now receive payment for crisis grants through 111 Paypoint outlets in West Lothian.

Previously payment was only available from Arrocher House in Livingston or Bathgate Partnership Centre.

Most PayPoint venues are open 7 days a week from 6 am until 10 pm, which means people can get their money at a time and place that is convenient to them, without unnecessary travel to Livingston or Bathgate.

Crisis Grants are awarded in a crisis to meet expenses that have arisen as a result of an emergency or disaster in order to avoid an immediate threat to health or safety.

Examples of items that can be awarded are help with food and utility costs. The grants do not have to be paid back.

Donald Forrest, head of finance and property services at West Lothian Council, said: “We’re delighted to help support local residents who need support with this major improvement in how people access crisis grants.

“Enabling people to use PayPoint outlets as well as Arrocher House in Livingston or Bathgate Partnership Centre will help people get access to emergency money quicker and easier.

“With the current coronavirus restrictions in place, it also means most people will not have to travel far to access their grant.”
