Vacant commercial properties are attractive to thieves and vandalizers. Even if the property is completely empty of things that can be stolen, it’s still at risk of being broken into by these petty criminals. Protecting these places are usually expensive.

Believe it or not, trespassing is fairly common worldwide. As such, we’re giving you cost-effective ways to protect your vacant commercial property.

    Have It Boarded Up

A lot of businesses have to temporarily close down because of the pandemic. This leaves properties vulnerable to break-in attempts. Prime installers of boarding up services explained that blocking all possible entry points is an effective means to deter intruders. While lockdown restrictions are still in place, it might be wise to have your place covered.

The goal of the service is not just to block all possible entries. It’s also to make the property less attractive to possible thieves and other criminals. This means covering the place with screens and barriers that are nearly impossible to remove without the use of very heavy equipment.

Such services are available on-call. This means even for emergency cases, you can still have your place boarded up. The protection isn’t temporary. It can last for months or even depend on how you want the place secured. The service can also include reinforced doors but these are more expensive.

    Brighten Up The Place

A great means to prevent break-ins is to simply make the place look as if it’s not even abandoned in the first place. For this, the simplest way to do that is to brighten up the area. Strong lighting is often a great deterrent to thieves and criminals because it makes them more visible to the human eye.

You can install powerful lights surrounding possible entry points of the property. Alternatively, you can also turn on the lights inside the property at night. Criminals are less likely to break-in because they’ll think that the place has occupants and isn’t completely empty.

    Alarm Systems

Perhaps the most efficient way to protect your vacant commercial property is to install alarm systems within the area. These are loud alarms that are activated by various means. They can be activated when windows are broken or when an intruder and passes by a certain area.

Once activated, the alarms will alert the authorities who can respond to the area as immediately as possible. Some alarms are loud to scare out the criminals. There are also some silent alarms that will only alert the authorities. This will help the authorities catch the perpetrators much easier as they don’t think there was an alarm in the first place.

A vacant commercial property is still a property nonetheless. Whether you are hoping to resell it or are looking to turn it into something else in the future, it’s much better to have it protected as best as possible. The last thing you’d want is to return to your commercial property and then see that it’s already been vandalized.
