Confex has announced the retirement of its managing director Nicky White.
White has been at the helm of the buying group for about two and a half decades. Tom Gittins, who was appointed as director last year, will take her place with immediate effect.
“After 25 years, I’m happy to hand over the reins to Tom and the brilliant team we have now in place at Confex,” said Nicky. “I’m also looking forward to spending more time with my grandchildren.”
White is the daughter of Julien Loffet, who co-founded Confex with Sidney Lumley in 1972. She joined the firm in 1996 when Lumley retired.
Gittins commented: “I thank the Confex Board for giving me this opportunity and look forward to leading Confex into the next phase of our evolution in our 48th year. These are exciting times for the wholesale industry and with our dynamic, forward-thinking members and dedicated head office team, we are well placed to capitalise on the rapidly changing marketplace.”
Confex buying group has more than 240 members across the UK with a £2.76 billion turnover and represents more than 200 suppliers.
