CJ Lang has appointed specialist business property adviser Christie & Co to market eight Spar branded stores situated across Scotland.

The stores on sale are those situated at Invergordon, Troon, Aberdeen, Gretna, Dumfries, Dundee, Ayr and Carnoustie.

The move follows a strategic review of the company managed store division and the retailer decided to bring the eight stores to the market to enable further growth of their estate.

CJ Lang, which celebrates 100 years next year, is the largest independent retailer and distributer in Scotland and supplies to all Spar stores in the nation.

The sale of the eight sites will bring their portfolio to a total of 108 sites, with plans to add three new greenfield sites across the Central Belt of Scotland over next 12 months.

Daniel Arrandale, director at Christie & Co commented: “The sites represent an ideal opportunity for both experienced operators or first-time buyers to acquire an established convenience store business at a competitive price.

“With locations across the Scotland, we anticipate a range of interest from across the UK given the high profile nature of this instruction. A number of the stores have already attracted significant interest and there are several indicative offers on the table.”
