Cawston Press partners with FareShare to provide 140,000 drinks and meals

Cawston Press, who make soft drinks with pressed fruit and sparkling water, will be donating 100,000 kids’ drinks and the equivalent of 140,000 meals to FareShare.
This is a new partnership that supports Cawston Press’s “Pressing for Better” strategy and will involve working with FareShare’s network of nearly 9,500 charities and community groups based around the UK.

“We are excited and thankful to partner with Cawston Press,” said Alyson Walsh, Commercial Director at FareShare. “The provision of 100,000 Fruit Water cartons and financial support equivalent to 140,000 meals will help us support our network of nearly 9,500 charities and community organisations across the UK.”

In the UK, more than two million tonnes of good-to-eat surplus food is wasted annually, the equivalent of 1.3 billion meals.

Meanwhile, up to 10 million people, including 2.5m children, in the UK are in food insecurity, which means they are skipping meals and struggle to get enough to eat. The pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis have dramatically increased the number of people in food insecurity.

During the last financial year, 2021-22, FareShare redistributed the equivalent of nearly 130 million meals – four meals every second.

“We admire what FareShare have managed to achieve across the years and are very proud to be able to partner with such a great charity that has similar values to Cawston Press,” said Cawston Press CEO Steve Kearns. “We are also excited to be volunteering to help FareShare deliver this food & drink across the UK.”
