We wish to correct an error that occurred a “Me and My Shop” feature in Asian Trader Vol. 31, No. 803, published last November10.
Josh Taylor had recently taken over the old Londis store in Tywardreath, Cornwall, and during the interview stated that the village had no pub: “There is no pub”.
It was soon pointed out to us by a concerned resident that the new village shop was in fact directly opposite The New Inn, owned by St Austell Brewery and with a landlord and landlady who have loyally served for 13 years so far. The picturesque pub has been on the same site for over 250 years, and we hope will be there for another 250.
Apologies to all the residents of Tywardreath, and to St. Austell Brewery. We daresay Josh has made his own apologies to the community he has recently joined. In future Asian Trader will assume that every British village has a pub, and if we are told otherwise, will investigate why not.
