A town centre shop in Barrow’s Cavendish Street is due to go under the hammer, stated local reports on Friday (27). The shop has been left empty by the reported closure due to the pandemic.

Winfields Outdoors in Barrow’s Cavendish Street was first closed temporarily during the first lockdown. It is due to go up for auction and has been listed with a guide price of £150,000.

The large unit at Cavendish Street in Barrow has now been put up for sale and the store is listed on the chain’s website as permanently closed.

An Auction House Cumbria listing for the space described it as a ‘substantial, freehold, shop premises in an excellent central location’.

It said there was ‘huge potential’ for the space and the possibility of dividing it in two.

A statement from the company earlier this year said: “Sorry this store is now closed.

“We would like to thank all of our customers from the Winfields Barrow store for all your support over the years.
