Aldi said it is trialling its first UK grocery click and collect services.

The pilot is currently available for Aldi staff from a Midlands store, with plans to extend to customers in the coming weeks.

The service allows shoppers to choose from a full range of grocery items online and drive to their local store where they can receive them to their cars by store colleagues contact-free.

Giles Hurley, chief executive officer, Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “We know that more and more people want to access the high-quality, affordable food they know they can get at Aldi.

“This is yet another way we are innovating to make sure we best serve our existing customers and make Aldi’s great products and unbeatable prices available to even more people.”

Aldi hopes to take the service to further stores across the country in the near future.

The discounter is already trialling a rapid delivery service across stores in the East Midlands, London, Cambridge and Greater Manchester in partnership with Deliveroo.

The click-and-collect trial will offer customers time-slots to arrive at dedicated click-and-collect points in store car parks, where they can pick up their shopping.
