Bestway runs the Best-one symbol, which has 500 members and has grown the total volume of its business 20 per cent in the last year.
The group provides: shop fitting and merchandising services; drop shipments to members’ doors with 14 days credit (subject to status); consumer lead promotions; own label; Epos and scanning solutions; finance and insurance facilities; ongoing business support and advice from the member’s own business development executive; and customer liaison and telesales.
There is no central office surcharge and no joining or annual fees.

All Best-one retailers enjoy their own fully supported promotion programme and with a recent introduction of the ‘profit earners’ promotions, can enjoy promotional prices across over 350 lines.”
The group has created a new look, both inside and outside the store, using a new shop fitting service, available nationwide to all new and existing members who wish to upgrade. A further series of stores opened in the past year to a new specification. These include stores that also incorporate a full Bake n Bite takeaway offer, coffee to go and fresh pizzas. A trial stand-alone coffee concept has been tested and implemented which the group hopes will develop into a number of sites as well as within key located convenience stores.
Members’ store size varies from 500 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft. The majority of stores have a full convenience offering for specialist outlets, forecourts, off-licences and newsagents, which are branded Best-one express.
Best-In is the Bestway group’s own label, consisting of around 400 products. Regular competitive tastings take place across the group, providing strong results against leading named brands.
All retailers receive four-weekly promotions supported by POS and consumer leaflets. Also available are the profit earners on a three-weekly cycle which also include Bestway Cash and Carry Diamond and Platinum promotions.
This year Batleys cash & carry celebrates its 50th anniversary with a number of promotions across all branches of Bestway and Batleys.
To be a member, retailers must have a turnover of over £8000 per week, be prepared to bring their store/s up to Best-one specification and to support promotions and core ranging.
