With a group of 1850 stores, Londis operates an order to delivery schedule, meaning retailers can stock up as little or as often as they like. Stores can place orders as little as 24 hours before they need the stock. Orders will be delivered multi-temperature vehicles.
Services on offer include central and local marketing, training packages for retailers and their staff, a range of external partner suppliers via Londis’ Central Billing system and regular promotions. Retailer pay £31 per week for the basic membership, with other options available.
An own brand range of over 500 products is available, covering every major category. Londis claims to offer its members more promotions and deals than any other symbol group operator. The group gives retailers a very flexible leafleting programme, allowing them to select the best fit for their trading format, type of customer and local competition. Promotions are linked to seasons and events.
A Londis spokesman said: “Our business is totally dedicated to our independent retailers. We believe in setting the standards that support our retailers in achieving long term growth for their business. For retailers, Londis is investing in improving its retailer margins through reduced wholesale prices as well as investing in a million pound promotional programme, which gives retailers extended promotional buying in periods.
“Londis has also undertaken a massive IT upgrade programme including providing retailers with a cost effective Epos system at £4000, which will help to make retailers’ day-to-day management of their business much easier."
